A frosty start did not deter 33 people (and one dog) from joining us for our walk from Trimley St Mary to Falkenham Marshes.
The day soon warmed up and jackets were quickly removed. The recent dry spell thankfully meant that the muddy bits were few and far between.

Our 10-mile route took us out of Trimley along Kings Fleet to the River Deben. We saw Bawdsey and Felixstowe Ferry to our right but we headed left along the river towards Falkenham Creek.

When we saw Ramsholt Church on the opposite bank we turned inland and stopped for a brief lunch break. Pork pies, sandwiches and other snacks were enjoyed while we struggled to identify the wildlife in the fields and the sky – can you have a ‘murmuration’ of geese?*

Our route back to Trimley took us along ‘Drunkards Lane’…but sadly there was no pub to be found.
We walked through fields containing horses that I was assured were ‘clippety-cloppety’ horses, whatever that means!

After-walk drinks and banter were enjoyed at the Mariners Arms in Trimley; the Fullers ESB went down very well.
Many thanks to everyone that joined us, particularly the new faces. We hope to see you on a walk again soon.
*[Ed.: Some sources allow ‘murmuration’ to be applied to any large flock of birds but most dictionaries define it as a term specifically for starlings.]
