Thetford Forest Walk: Sunday 21st July

A forest walk is perfect for a hot and sunny July day. Ten people joined Ian for his walk of just under 13 miles from Thetford.

Wending our way from Nuns’ Bridges through Thetford town alongside the Little Ouse River, we came out into the countryside.

We negotiated some obstacles on the path after crossing the river at Abbey Heath Weir and then walked through Warren Wood and part of Thetford Forest towards Santon Downham.

After crossing the river again, we found some shade for lunch outside the small but beautiful All Saints Church, which provided welcome relief from the hot sun reflecting off the sandy paths.

We made our way back to Thetford along the wooded paths of the St Edmund Way and Little Ouse Path.

Many thanks to Ian for a great walk.
