Once a year at around this time, our volunteer coordinator, Peter, invites members to take part in a joint event with Ipswich Parkrun in Chantry Park.
The aim of the Parkrun Takeover is for the IOG to fill the volunteering roles available: marshals, time keepers, barcode scanners, tail walkers, volunteer park walkers, and token distributors to name a few. It gives our volunteers an excellent opportunity to promote the Ipswich Outdoor Group.
This year was a successful Parkrun takeover: we managed to fill nearly all of the volunteer roles, and all 250 or so participants made it safely to the finish line. Afterwards, some of us went to the Chestnut Tree pub for a bite of breakfast.
Thank you to Peter and all 17 IOG volunteers for making it happen. Rachael looked amazing in her pre-Halloween skeleton outfit!
