Cycle and Cake: Saturday 31st August

It was a very blustery (but dry) day to be out on the bikes for the group of IOG cycling enthusiasts who met at St Margaret’s Church, Ipswich, for Christina’s Cycle and Cake event.

We had a nice tail wind out of Ipswich through Claydon and Barham to the outskirts of Needham Market, mainly via National Cycle Route 51.

We had a welcome lunch stop by the River Gipping and then went on to Alder Carr Farm shop and cafe for coffee and cake and to have a quick look round.

Suitably refreshed, we cycled out to Barking and then Barking Tye, where we saw an amazing garden display.

A few miles further on, we stopped for a top up at The Duke of Marlborough in Somersham, comfortably seated in the shade of a huge walnut tree in their beer garden.

For the final leg back to Ipswich, we continued via Little Blakenham and Bramford (which is where we met the inevitable head wind).

Around 25 miles ridden overall at a gentle 10mph. Thanks to Christina for getting us round safely.
