Battisford Beyond: Sunday 28th July

While some of the group were partying at Latitude, Glen offered a plentitude of exercise for others on his Battisford Beyond walk of around 11 miles on a very hot day.

This part of Suffolk to the south of Stowmarket has a rather remote rural feel to it and the route comprised a mixture of road walking, pavements, grassy paths and worn tracks across crop fields. A friendly farmer let the group walk through his orchard.

There were gentle but sometimes long inclines, often offering fine views of the surrounding countryside.

Battisford, Battisford Tye, Little Finborough and Ringshall all featured during the walk.

Fruits of the hedgerows were picked along the way…

…and we discovered that some rear ends fitted on a playground slide better than others!

Very welcome post-walk drinks were consumed at the Punch Bowl in Battisford Tye.

Many thanks to Glen for a good walk.
