Badingham Bonhomie: Sunday 2nd February

A group of 16 IOGers and 3 dogs joined Glen on his Badingham Bonhomie walk of around 8 miles.

We had lovely sunshine and clear blue skies throughout the walk. There was a touch of frost on the grassy fields and verges, which added some white magic to this exploration of the countryside to the north of Framlingham. Thankfully, the River Alde stayed within its banks and did not cause any path flooding.

The garden of the White Horse Country Pub in Badingham provided an ideal venue for our lunch stop.

Later, we encountered three cute Alpacas looking somewhat puzzled at us through their thick fringes. Shortly after that point, the path led through some particularly soggy and muddy ground – there was no escape from it and everyone’s boots will require a deep clean.

We mainly walked on tracks and field-side paths today, with a few short stretches of woodland. This attractive walk featured some early spring flowers – I spotted wild primroses and snowdrops – as well as scenic ponds with mirrored images of the vegetation, the magnificent building of the Old Rectory, and the Church of St John The Baptist, Badingham, to mention a few highlights.
